Re: Population in Brief 2018
Indeed.
Looks like a calibrated increase in new citizens (& corresponding PR's to fill the candidate pool) to offset the continuous decrease in TFR.
PR mix may vary and resident population size may increase, but ethnic mix of citizen population shows an amazing stability over time.

There will be an update out soon (this is an annual exercise).
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Lastest direct from SingStats:
https://www.singstat.gov.sg/publication ... ion-trends
PR level stays the same but if you look at number of SC it has grown more than the birth date. You can infer about 25k to 30k PR approval per year. Mostly from Chinese race as the ratio of Chinese has grown slightly.

Re: Population in Brief 2018
The consistent ethnic mix is an indication (obviously) that the Singapore population is by design and not evolutionary circumstance, consistent with most other aspects of Singapore.
Then again, the country's raison d'être in modern times have always been as a global trading post, and so it shall remain - so continuing to run it as a business seems prudent.
The biggest demographic challenge seems to be the ageing population - rightly so, the government would be keen to add younger, well educated new citizens into its citizen population. Noone wants to end up like Japan.

No Japan is a nightmare although if they would drop their hatred of none Japanese it could become a premier immigration destination and attract the brightest/best/richest as it's a beautiful country.
