Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Wondering if anyone has experience of obtaining health insurance for parents on LTVP in Singapore?
I am on PR, my mother’s LTVP is due for renewal in 2020. My current Insurance Agent is unable to suggest any local solution, and recommends she obtains travel insurance instead, with bi-annual trips back to the UK.
Thanks for any insights!

As one of the forum moderators, I share with you our preference that we much prefer that you share your knowledge with forum members at large and not through PM's. That way, everyone benefits from your knowledge.watchdog wrote:Hi its possible to get some form of coverage under the dependant's act. I was just wondering if you can pm me for more info!
Our experience as moderators is that posts such as yours, "pm me for more info", are more often than not, business solicitations. And we do not permit business solicitation on our board.
So... do us all a favor... tell us how we get insurance under the dependent's act.
Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Well, not to solicitation or whatsoever. But I strongly believe insurance or health related stuffs are kinda confidential? Do you want to share your health information to everyone?

Glib tongue (or keyboard fingers). Sounds like a salesman to me. Always got a pat answer. You don't need to know the nitty-gritty to tell him if you are not planning on flogging your product.

There is nothing confidential in sharing sources of insurance. If there are limitations to insurance because of pre-existing conditions, then you can state those in your reply.watchdog wrote:Well, not to solicitation or whatsoever. And why would the OP want to reveal any confidential information to you?
Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
LTVP can buy insurance (generally as long as you have a valid pass in Singapore this isn't an issue, though some plans are tagged to your pass and some are not).
If you buy a local hospital plan, you can add on travel insurance on trips.
If you buy an international hospital plan, and do not need cover like flight delay, etc, then you can skip the travel insurance.

Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Health insurance from the 6 appointed insurers cannot be bought on someone on a LTVP because that is not considered a valid work pass. The valid permits for a foreigner are:
1. Work Permit/Employment Pass
2. Dependant Pass
3. Student Pass
4. Business Registration

Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
LTVP can buy, but they need someone with a valid work pass you mentioned as the policyholder, as they cannot be the policyholder.
There is no issue if you are buying international insurance of course, just passport is needed (instead of a pass which is tagged to a single jurisdiction.

Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
LTVP holders can be covered by local insurance (e.g. PR parents buying health insurance of LTVP child).
Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Wow seems like the old threads were being digged out by agents?
Re: Health insurance for Mother on LTVP
Hi Joseph, as long as no one is selling anything, and the info is transferrable for new expats reading, I don't see the harm

3carlos has done his homework.
I pretty certain we won't get any PMs by our readers having been contacted via that route either.
