Is diversity a concern in preschool ?

Post by arjumallika » Fri, 07 Sep 2018 2:11 pm

My daughter is 4 years old and have been going to an international preschool . I chose the school based on logistics and also diversity . Since she was small I didn't really consider the teaching methods .
However recently during a PTA meeting I had the teacher tell me she isn't recognising two digit numbers or recognising January from a group of blocks . I was shocked because they aren't actively teaching these things but expecting her to know . They also have not been up to the mark in multiple other areas while charging very heavy fees.

I have since then decided to move her to an academic preschool mind champs in bukit timah. While also teaching her at home . I loved everything about the center however there is 0 diversity . We are Indians and my kid will be the only indian kid in the whole school .this worries me . I would like fr her to see at least a few kids like her around .
The center is everything we wanted . Small class size, closet to home , and also with a curriculum we believe would be good for our daughter .
I have checked few other sschools and didn't like anything but this one

How has this affected any of you?

Neighbourhoods vary in diversity.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!
