Hairdressers that specialise in western hair

I have recently moved here from the UK and desperately need to go to the hairdressers for a trim and colour.
Anyone have any good recommendations for a hairdressers that are good with western hair (not worried about the cost)

Please look for Venson Ong of Toni&Guy Academy in Bugis Junction. Most of his clients are westerners and he is known reputably for cutting, grooming westerners' hair. You can call or book him for appointment at Toni&Guy Academy

David from Toni & Guy is really good - he works at both Robinson Road and The Heeren Centre Orchard Road. He's from the UK and I have been very pleased with his results.

Is the Toni and Guy Academy the training school for Toni and Guy? Do they have special rates for model cuts?

I have blonde hair and I was deperate for a touch up so I went to Esprite who charged me a fortune $450 for the director to do my hair.
Firstly he never even applied the colour or styled it, he has a junior do it who took hours, after that they applied a $150 treatment which I never knew about and they never asked me if I wanted it. Then for the final outcome they turned my hair bright orange. I was devastated. He knew I was unhappy as I refused to pay the full amount but he never offered to fix it and I felt uneasy about asking.
My saviour is Jackey Tan from Jeric Reds salon in Suntec City Mall on 6337-7811. He actually listened to me and gave me a full consultation, applied the colour himself and charged me a fraction of the cost. He even styled it with GHD style straighteners to give it some curls and the result was what I had initially asked for. I can't recommend him high enough!

i guess it's finding one suitable hair stylist and feeling comfortable, communications and customer service?

Hi there I have tried Toni & guy at the heeren and have to say that I had my hair ruined there.. they have no idea what to do with blonde hair and for quite a while my hair was being turned yellow/ orange to then be turned grey and I would NOT recommend for any blonde that loves her hair to risk going there. David is indeed great for a hair cut but does not do the colour.. there is a new place on Aliwal Street where several of my blonde friends go and they love it.. its called Alexandre Caste and I plan to go there myself very soon!

Agree with you. They have NO idea how to manage the blonde hair, I had the same experience with Toni&guy

I think most hair stylists will avoid doing colours for blondes. Not because they are not up to the par but probably because most of the hair products or colour dyes are meant to suit asians, the majority of hair consumers here.
Glad that you did find a rare salon who can manage natural blondes.
