Footpath Speed limit - 10km/hr

Post by Barnsley » Tue, 04 Sep 2018 5:59 pm

https://sg.yahoo.com/news/10kmh-speed-l ... 44256.html
Come early next year, the speed limit on footpaths for personal mobility device (PMD) users and cyclists will be cut to 10kmh, said the Ministry of Transport (MOT) on Tuesday (4 September).
Who is going to enforce this , when clearly nobody is enforcing the current rules?

Also will it now be a crime to be running above 10km/hr on the footpath?

I see speed traps coming. Any pedestrian limits in the pipeline?

Near an underpass at my house the LTA / cops were pulling over scooters and ebikes a few nights ago. Weighing them and confiscating them or fining the owners. There's nothing to stop them doing a speed test as well as weighing them. They had some fast bikes there as well for catching the runners.

This is going to be fun.

Still , should be some jobs created for enforcement officers.

Can you buy your own speed gun from taobao?

Actually 10km/hr is pretty fast, compared to the local pedestrian population. Some of them are so slow I'm surprised they remain upright.

noses stuck into a smartphone seems to slow 'em down even further. How they got the reputation of being the fastest walkers is beyond me.

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europ ... index.html

But the did say they only timed those who weren't on mobile phones. I heard that they got a total of two fast walkers, but both stated the same reason, trying to find their way to a toilet because they had to pee like a racehorse!

Or, they lost their phones and are frantically looking for them.

If you think SG is bad for smart phone addiction, you should take a trip to HK. I'm pretty sure they have their phones surgically attached to their faces.
