Best area to live in singapore for young professional

Hi there,

I've never been to Singapore before and I'm visiting for 3-4 months on an international assignment from the UK. My working time will be split between the downtown core and Changi business park.

What would be a good area to live in (I know absolutely nothing about Singapore BTW)

I'm a late 20s single male who likes adventuring outdoors, keeping fit, generally exploring and getting out and about. I enjoy bars/clubs/nights out on occasion too.

I'm wanting some suggestions of areas to look at for living. The 2 most important things for me are that I can walk to an underground station and walk to some malls/shops/amenities within about 10 minutes. I won't have the biggest budget either..

What areas should I check out?
