Can a work pass holder sell stuff in amazon and get paid here?

Post by telmopaz » Sat, 01 Sep 2018 1:45 pm

Hello all,

I have been checking that one can sell stuff via Amazon FBA in the US, but I'm holding an S-Pass. Can this be done or I'm jut forbidden to do that here?

As long as you're not selling any product into Singapore, you're probably OK. You'll need to declare your income somewhere, however.

There are two aspects to look at:
1. you are allowed to sell being holding S-pass in SG.
2. you are subject to pay income tax.

For the first aspect:
"All work pass holders must only work for their designated employer. They must not take on additional jobs or engage in activities to earn additional income in Singapore"

My question is your additional income derive in SG or not? the answer is grey, because although your sales not in SG but you are physically in SG. It depends how you describe your selling activities and other technical issues not appropriate openly.

Second aspect:
Regardless you are allowed to sell in amazon, you may subject to income tax, again there are technical issues and this also link to money launching implication.

Your action:
you may do what you are doing in a careful manner or sought out this from a very good accountant (please note not all qualified accountant can help, only those very good as your activities are quite sensitive)
