REP earliest date for renewal?

Post by AlexHK » Sat, 25 Aug 2018 7:25 pm

My REP is expiring in December. When is the earliest date I can renew it? Sorry I couldn’t find this anywhere.

Thanks!

If you’re able to find this forum then you should be able to google ICA website to find out. Here goes:

https://www.ica.gov.sg/PR/reentry/PR_reentry_apply

P/s let us know if you need us to point to you the exact section.

3 months exactly before the expiry date. I set up a outlook reminder and did it the first day I could (I've been a bit worried about losing my job). The eREP system will not let you renew earlier than 3 months.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for (SIN government has multiple websites with info on this and the three months wasn't listed on the site where I looked).

Thanks again! :D

Is there a downside to renewing early? Heard some rumors that ICA doesn't like too early applications?! True or fake news?

I last renewed with eREP in 2012. My new five years validity was from the date I renewed, not the date of expiration of my original REP, so I lost a month or so.

I don't see any reason why ICA should see it bad. We are talking about a 3 month window.

But the downside of renewing earlier is that you lose the REP time. Upon successful renewal, the old REP is terminated and the new one immediately kicks in.

Personally I do it ca 1.5month before the expiry unless I have some specific reasons to do it earlier (i.e. travel). This 1.5 is just in case, to have a buffer if something goes wrong - I recall some posts beginning this year where people didn't get approval in 2 months or so.

Exactly. A few months shortfall matters not a whit if you can't travel for work!
