EP (Employment Pass) Processing time

Post by bill_the_lizard_man » Wed, 15 Aug 2018 8:46 pm

Hey,

My employer applied for the epass on 31st July. I still have not got it.
When can I realistically expect the pass?

Here are the details:

Nationality: Indian
Industry: IT
JD: Software Engineer
Experience: 0-1
Salary 4500-5000 SGD
Company Size: 4 permanent + 4 temporary - I am the first foreigner.

Thanks!

My guess will be never. You will ask this same question on the forum three months from now because you will wait forever until your company withdraws the job offer.
  1. You have zero experience
  2. You are not being paid very much
  3. You are in an industry that MoM is closely watching, because the want more locals employed.
  4. The MoM will want to closely verify all your educational credentials and work experience
  5. You are probably going to be body shopped out to other companies
  6. You are working for a tiny company with an unknown track record
  7. You are Indian
Edited to add...

My pet peeve: What is a "software engineer"?

If the employer didn't tick the "consider an S pass if not qualified for the EP" box then you will not see an S pass either. If the EP was applied for without ticking the box, then, if rejected, the employer cannot go and apply for an S pass. So it might behoove you to check with the employer to find out if they ticked the box or not.

I say, your chances are close to zero for either without 2 years of experience to put up up front.

Congratulations. If I may ask, were you issued an EP or an S pass?
