Post by hellobarbieg » Wed, 18 Jul 2018 9:00 pm

Just wondering what are the chances of getting PR approval

-Thai citizen
-Born in 1993
-Grad bachelor degree 1 in Australia & 1in Bangkok
-Started working in bkk 2016-mid 2017
-married to Singaporean on Aug 2017
-started working in SG mid 2017 - present
-salary 3.8k sgd/month
-might change a job anytime soon while pr is processing (if i choose to apply now)
-used to hold LTVP
-now holding EP

going to apply PR anytime soon as in this month or next month

Any comments or i shoud just apply it?
Thank you in advance :)

Unless you are married for atleast 2 years or you have a kid from your marriage, your chance of getting PR NOW is very LOW

How can you hold both EP and LTVP?

With regards to the 2 years marriage requirement, I have seen this mentioned a lot on this forum but not anywhere else. Is it stated anywhere, please?

I wondered too.
Because there is no specific timing and specific standard or specific requirement at all in order to get an approval of PR

Yes, the minimum 2 years marriage requirement is not explicitly mentioned in the PR application Explanatory Notes as it just says that spouse of an SC/SPR may submit a PR application ICA for consideration. Key word here is for consideration.

However, in the SC application section ICA has specifically mentioned that for family tie scheme, the spouse must have been a PR for at least two years and have been married to a Singapore citizen for at least two years.

Further, with the recent cases of sham marriages (ICA’s stat says increase of 23% vs prior year), do you think ICA will not scrutinise those who apply right after or less than 2 years after marriage?

You should wait till you have paid 2 years of income tax, 2 years of marriage and best of all have children (and a citizen) from this marriage. Since you are a Thai and here we have cases of sham marriage involved your countryman. You better rule out all the risk that hamper your chance. I would not do it and wait in agony for a long time and get a rejection letter, not worth it. All you need is time.

My wife is 33yrs old malaysian chinese currently on ltvp+ and pregnant with 2nd child. Been married for 1.5 yrs. She currently works a part time job. Our first child is also a SC. I just want to give her some further security. This will be our 1st application.

Yes. Of course there are. Some already have their blue IC in hand, some received their IPA letters pending completion of formalities, some received their rejection letters, many more are pending - of which some are lurkers on this board and some are like yourself.

Good luck!
