Chances of getting job from foreign land

Post by AbhinavTripathi » Wed, 11 Jul 2018 10:00 pm

I am a student at NUS, and will be completing my PhD soon. My gf is working in India with a renowned financial consultancy. We plan to live together after I am done with my PhD. However, the new 6k$ rule for dependent pass/LTVP makes it difficult for her to move to Singapore. She has applied to various companies from India but never got any replies. Me getting a 6k$ job after my PhD is highly unlikely. Is there any better way to approach this problem? Can someone advice on how to get a job for her?

She needs to be here to find a job.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes , she needs to be here. But if she is on social visit pass, will that make a difference. For example she visits Singapore for 4 weeks or so. I will be getting S-pass after my PhD if I continue as Post-doc here in Singapore with a salary less than 6$k. Thus, LTVP and Dependent visa is not a choice for us.

Social pass will allow her to look for work, but not work. She won't be able to stay indefinitely, there is a limit to how long someone can stay in Sg as a visitor.

If she finds a job then an SPass or EP will allow her to stay.

It's just the tourist visa you get when you arrive in Sg. Usually 30 days but some countries get 90. It can be extended online once or renewed by leaving and entering Sg. However if you show a pattern (visa runs) you may end up getting only a few days or worse, being banned from entering.
