Approved for an SPASS instead of Epass

Post by QuillSpirits12 » Mon, 18 Jun 2018 11:16 am

Hi,

My employer applied for my employment pass but per MoM’s website, I was approved for an Spass. What are the impacts of this? Will I still receive the salary offered to me before my epass application was submitted?

Hi,
It's normal, No impact, your salary is the same. its only the pass.
Salary you will receive is based on your signed contract.

Good luck.

Thank you! But what exactly is the advantage of having an E pass over Spass?

Dependents pass will only be issued to E Pass holders.

Not correct. S Pass holders can also get a DP, if their salary is at least $6000 per month.

Thanks! It’s crystal clear that S Pass can also apply for DP. I’ve personally checked the status of my application online on June 18, but until now , I haven’t heard back from my employer nor the agency who applied for my pass. They might have not seen the results yet. Is this normal? Are there chances that this will not push through?

Do note that DP of an S-pass holder cannot work in SG under the LOC scheme. The spouse should obtain his/her own work pass. Unlike if they are under EP, the company can just apply for Letter Of Consent. Advantage is they don't require quota and automatic grant, just like PR / Citizen.
