Unsigned contract also can bind tenants?

Post by nsewon » Wed, 13 Jun 2018 1:07 am

Hi all, I need a legal advice here..
I am living in the condo without signing the contract. There was weird binding clause so I asked the primanry tenant to give me the editable contract so that ai can change clause and share to them to agree.

But I havent received any editable document yet. I want to move out becuase the main tenant is bullying me, smoke comes into my room, too many bugs but no fumigation (the main tenant will not split the fee as the bugs dont bother the person.) They clearly said there is no bug but theres a lot.

Whenever I claim, it is ignored and say welcome to live if I find a person to take over or pay the rest of the rent (I stayed 6 months and 4 more to go). They are thinking to sue me.

What should I do? Am I binded to pay the rest of the rent or giving up the deposit is enough?

Also, in case I am seconded to other country for some months or years. Am I also still binded with that unsigned contract?

My previous tenent is included in the main contract and I am the successor. I havent met landlord but she may have my info.

Need an advice from legal side, as I think they will really sue me.

You're effectively only a guest who pays a fee if there is no contract. You can't be sued. There needs to be a stamped TA for any real consequences. Just move out.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Thank you for the advice!
Does the verbal agreement bind people here? Can they sue with it?

You can't stamp a verbal agreement. Verbal is not binding.
