Impact of losing PR on future employement

Post by qhimiko » Wed, 13 Jun 2018 12:53 am

Hello folks,

I'm wondering if losing one's PR has detrimental impact on any future employment in Singapore under different pass (EP or others). I was just recently informed that if we decide to withdraw our CPF after losing PR that pretty much close the gate to ever work again in Singapore. Any other useful information on the consequences of losing one's PR to any future employment in Singapore or just in general?

Thanks.

If you withdraw CPF you need to put it back in order to reapply for PR. Employment wise you're now in a different category with quotas and salary levels which make it less attractive to potential employers. You can obtain an EP after giving up PR if the employer can get approval. You don't need to repay your CPF in this case AFAIK.

You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

EP will be harder (not impossible) to obtain if the former PR has withdrawn their CPF. However, it all depends on what else the person is bringing to the table. e.g., Rocket Scientist or Brain Surgeon.
