Hey folks,
Wanted to add another data point.
Completed my doctoral studies in Singapore, and subsequently working as a postdoc.
Race: Malaysian Chinese
Age: Late 20s
Duration in Singapore: 5 years at point of application
Duration of application: 8.5 months (Sept 2017)
Qualification: PhD
Job: Postdoctoral Fellow
My profile is similar to other recent applicants of LiuPeng's [profile, approved], Superpig303 [profile].
Additionally, of my colleagues (with PhDs), there seems to be many more approvals than rejections. Looks like a doctorate is a decent pathway to permanent residence.
Cheers

Ph.D helps, but your main selling point is an educated Malaysian Chinese. You need to accept the fact that your race here is just like where you are from, except 180 degrees.
