Hi,
This question is largely for European Expats currently residing in Singapore, so that I can get an idea on the aspects of life in Singapore from people with a similar background to my own; i.e. comparison to UK / Germany or Switzerland for example.
I am currently living in Switzerland as an Expat, loving it, but I am seriously looking at Singapore. Both countries share similar tax and quality of life standards etc etc
As a European living in Singapore, how is:
... the heat/climate? Is it too hot, and restrictive, to say, your activities during the weekend, getting out during the mid-day sun? Does the heat start to annoy you after the initial excitement of moving to a tropical climate, or is it beach and BBQ heaven?
... Is there much to do besides shopping and eating?
... Is it difficult meeting new friends? Good social? e.g. for couples no children.
... how long do you plan to live in Singapore. Set period for the experience i.e. 2 years or more? Why?
... do you have good interaction with the locals, or do you always feel like an outsider?
... is it expensive to bring up a family in Singapore, schools etc on say 10k a month. We are planning one soon.
I know much of this information is on-line, but it would be good to hear real life experiences from people living there now.
Thanks
DB
