[ASKING] OIL are rejected during notice period

Post by vltanbu » Wed, 21 Feb 2018 1:37 pm

Hi,

I am working under epass with the basic sal 5.5K+ SGD.
Before my notice period, my overtime workings were normally paid by additional rest days.
However, once I gave my resignation letter, the current employer said that they won't pay for my OT workings which have spent earlier because I am being in my notice period.

Do the employer have the right to do that?
What can I do in this situation to claim my OT effort?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Read your contract? Is there anything in black and white to protect you?

As you earn too much to be covered under The Employment Act, your only recourse is take the employer to civil court. Of course you will definitely need a lawyer in that case. I fear that the cost of the lawyer will completely eat up any overtime you are trying to recoup. But that is your decision.

Thanks,

Don't work OT, "work to rule", in other words work the exact amount your contract requires and not a minute more.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
