Employment Pass - Do any employers still submit manually?

Post by am1707 » Tue, 20 Feb 2018 4:58 am

Hi, when you completed your part of the Employment Pass Visa application what type of document did you have to fill in? Mine was a badly formatted Word document so it felt like this was a manual submission and not something I would consider ‘online’.

It’s been 5 weeks now and so this seems slower than what I’ve read on here and from discussions I’ve had with other expats. I’m wondering if my prospective employer would have done a manual submission. Other key info: Single male applicant,29, British (currently live in London), salary will be S$ 56000/month. I will be working as an engineer at NTU. Thanks

They took whatever you entered on your badly formatted Word document and typed it into the EP online system. Quite difficult to file manually these days.

Hard to say what is holding things up... you're engineering credentials... whether NTU has sought out locals first... or the fact that you're making S$56,000 per month :)

Seriously, if you're making $5K to $6K, that's pretty much a local salary, and MoM may be trying to understand why NTU needs an "average" expat on a local salary as opposed to an average local on a local salary.

You won't know, and anything posted here is all guesswork. All you can do it wait.

$56,000 monthly is bloody impressive for an NTU engineer role. Definitely punching above local rate.

Ha, I wish. Alas I have only been offered a more modest $5.6k.

Ok thanks for the info. At least that more or less rules out one possible source of the delay

And that is the issue. You're smack in the middle of the PMET salary range and I suspect you may not get through if the MOM decides the job should be locally filled.
