Citizenship application - received letter requesting to resubmit

Post by shadesofblue » Tue, 30 Jan 2018 9:33 pm

Hello,

Need your expert advice here. My husband applied for SC almost one year ago, now we received a letter from ICA asking him to go to another appointment to submit SC application again. This is strange considering that we had submitted and waited for almost a year?! #-o

Anybody in similar situation before?

Anybody in similar situation before?
1) did you sponsor the SC Application?
2) What is the exact details of the letter?
3) May be this is an additional interview and not submit the application again?

Hi singaporeflyer,

Yes to 1)
The letter mentions to submit the SC application one more time. Which is 6 months away from now. Nothing other than that :-k

Does the letter say the application was unsuccessful and asking you to reapply?

I've seen folks on this forum talking about letters stating that application outcome is unsuccessful but this letter is not such that's why I'm puzzled

Maybe they lost part of the application?

Good to have another opportunity

Has either the OP or the Sponsor changed jobs or out of a job since the 1st application? One of the sources they check is the CPF board for contributions. If there is a gap in one or the other's CPF contributions, then they might find that it warrants a new application if you failed to notify them of any significant changes since your original application.

Hi sundaymorningstaple,

Both of us have not changed jobs for almost 2 years. According to what you said, it's not advisable to change jobs during this time? As my husband has an offer lined up. We not sure if changing job before submitting another application has impact on the outcome. I will likely be the sponsor for his next application though.

No, it's not always a negative impact. If either of you change jobs vertically rather than horizontally, either in position, responsibilities, or wages (say 15% or higher) and with a reputable company with a track record then it could be an asset. However, you should inform them in any case anytime something on your original application changes.

The request for a new application may well be just an update as it has been 12 months so maybe they want to see if anything has changed, either positively or negatively. They may well be on the fence at the moment. The problem as you all well know, is ICA keeps their cards very close to their chests so it's darn hard to second guess them (although we DO have a pretty good track record here in that department.) ;-)
