Digital front door lock

Hi All,

Anyone using digital front door lock in Singapore?

I am looking at August, Kevo, Samsung and Epic. Would appreciate any user experience with these products.

Features of interest to me:
Remote Phone unlock
Bluetooth proximity or geofencing unlock
Scheduled access for helper or guests
Mechanical failsafe

My neighbour has one. The simplest type. No screen or biometrics, just a keypad. She seems happy with it.

I travel a fair bit, so sometimes good to have remote management in case some family members forget their keys.

Completing renovations on a resale condo, so taking advantage to change the door lock now

I'm in the market for one now too. I have a 2 years Samsung keypad and fingerprint one. The finger print totally crap. Doesn't work most of the time. So if I were to get Samsung again if opt for keypad, card and Bluetooth. I dont think Samsung do wifi yet to remote open and issue temp pins.

My friend has an August lock and swears by it is awesome but looking at thousands of Amazon reviews it appears unstable. I think it needs and ideal door open and close situation for it to work.

Still in renovation so I have a few more Months to think about it, but hopefully by then Samsung has released a new version to be wifi remote lock and open.

Else I will just get plain keypad and RFID card.....As this just works and simple and reliable.

I have a Yale. It uses a card and a keypad for backup. So far no issues with it. I like it. Having the keypad as a backup saved me once when I locked myself out without the card. Takes 4 AA batteries which I change every few months. You can also use a 9V for emergency power. Never tried that.

@bgd. agree yeah, no matter if you go wifi/BT lock or not. I think a keypad is a must. by the time i added the keypad accessory, and wifi module to the August lock kit its value proposition was less. I was thinking about hooking to a security camera like the Amazon Lock Product (only available in America). thats why I'm holding out fom a known brand to combine the 2 in a package. hopefully samsung/yale

I can't comment on the locks but I can tell you about two high end lock places that probably have an opinion.

I was at Tesa Locks in SLT, they carry Epic, Samsung and Yale. Epic (Korean) seems most interesting. Much cheaper than Samsung, and able to offer all options including WiFi connection.

Shop includes $50 installation fee, and they can sell the home App solution to manage other devices (e.g. AC, entertainment) on the home network.

Seems Epic may be TOP of the list from what they are saying. Trying to dig up more reviews, definitely seems to pack some real bang for the buck.

I decided to go simple with Epic brand digital Lock.

It has key pad, RFID cards and 2 physical keys. Battery indicator and 9V battery emergency power up for when the 4x AA supply goes down.

Got it for $399 + 5 year full support for additional $80.

I uses Gateman since 2015. It recognizes finger prints, digital and have a remote control (like a car key). One of the best decisions I made, since I don't have to carry any key anymore. If I have an overseas guest, I'll pass the remote to them. My help is digitally scanned as well, so if I need to remove her finger print, its quite easy. I got mine online and got a fix-it man to install in. Batteries are changed once a year, and if its flat, you simply go to 7-11 and get spare batteries, to charge from outside, to gain entry home.

I am sure there are more modern and fancy models, but I am happy with this one.

Thinking of getting a smart lock too. Looking at Samsung, Yale and maybe igloohome to support our Singapore brands. Any advise?

I like the Epic brand for simplicity. Don’t Live in a high risk ‘hood to justify anything more.

Guess would be nice to have GPS lock and remote unlock, but manageable now with current lifestyle

i use a simple samsung one with keypad and card. quite satisfied with it
