Sponsoring Dependant Pass (DP) for newborn child

Post by blk343 » Tue, 16 Jan 2018 5:04 pm

Dear Expats,

Myself and my wife are both E pass holders and expecting our newborn baby in mid of this year 2018. I am now worried because of MoM's new policy on increase in monthly salary (SGD 6000) cap for sponsoring a DP.

Will the individual salary alone be calculated for sponsoring a DP ? can't we combine the two salaries of the parent to sponsor the DP for child. please let me know if anybody have tried this, if any success in this is possible?

regards,
Worried Father :-)

You cannot combine salaries and ask for a DP. DP is solely based on the single EP holder's salary.

As long as you already have the EP you are not going to be subject to the new rules until such time as you have your EP renewed. Then you may or may not be subject to the new criteria. However, if you change jobs then you will automatically be adjudicated using the new criteria. So, I'd suggest you make a Plan B just in case.

I was eligible while we planned for baby in mid 2017. But My salary wouldn't be sufficient (6k) in mid 2018 to sponsor DP, al though i am in same EP and didn't change job and all.

Making plans b, c etc., Just wanted to confirm this too.

yeah, i got the DP for my son in mid 2018 with a consideration of MoM, with a support document from my employer citing that my salary would meet the eligibility criteria in the subsequent assessment.

but there was no option to combine the salaries of parents to meet this MoM's criteria.
