Work around for a Samsung 46" Smart TV

Post by chrisnlewis » Wed, 10 Jan 2018 2:21 pm

I have a Samsung 46" Smart TV. Only about 5 years old. The wireless has stopped working. Would like to use a home DVD system as throughput from internet/cable and use the TV as only a monitor. Any ideas as to what brand / model to purchase to do this? Currently, only have a simple DVD home theater player connected to TV.

Thanks,
Chris

For cable TV (Starhub, etc), you get a set top box with HDMI output to your TV.

For internet connection and streaming you'll want to look at a Roku (my preference), a Chromecast, or one of several other streaming devices. These connect wirelessly/wired to your internet router and via HDMI to your TV.

If budget is not a problem then would recommend buying Nvidia Shield TV media box and be happy for next 5 years.. Its the best media player around and more smarter than any of current Smart TVs in the market. Just needs a simple wired or wireless Internet connection and use the HDMI port to connect to TV.
