LTVP application for wife - questions

Post by buggy.88 » Sat, 30 Dec 2017 11:23 am

I just married my Chinese wife a few days ago. Our PMLA was approved last month.

Some questions I have:
1) We plan to go on our honeymoon during the wait. I know she has to be in SG in person during the time of the online application, and the completion of formalities interview. For LTVP applicants in practice, are there any more occasions when they have to be in SG in person besides that?
2) In preparation for her move to SG, my wife quit her job in China recently. So I will have to update her job as Unemployed in LTVP application. Will this affect the outcome?
3) For my Income Tax Records, I can't find the original documents. Will the scanned copy from IRAS website be enough, or do I need to go to IRAS to get a hardcopy?

Thanks

1) ocassion that she need to be in SG :- online application, completion of formalities and collection of LTVP card.
Normally LTVP card collection will be issued same time as completion of formalities.
She can be outside of Singapore during waiting period between online application and completion of formalities.

2) It does not affect much since you are the sponsor for the LTVP application. The important part is you remain employed throughout the whole LTVP application.

3) There should be inbox under IRAS after you logged by using your singpass. There you should find your tax assessment. Alternatively you could give permission to ICA to acquire your income details by filling up a appendix form here. https://www.ica.gov.sg/cms/files/Append ... ssForm.pdf

Hope that explains.

My wife’s move to SG is delayed. Spoke to her, she wants to complete an IELTS academic exam in China first, and have booked a test date. Also renovations for our new home is taking longer than expected. I estimate the move will only happen in late Feb.

I am unsure whether it is better to get her to come to SG for just a weekend, apply for LTVP while she is here, go back to China and finish her arrangements, then by the time she is ready to move, we should have gotten IPA, and she can take whatever original docs ICA wants with her. Makes the process simpler. But will ICA require her to show up for any interview or submit any original docs during this waiting period? If so, it’ll be tough for her as she has to book a last min ticket.

Or is it better to wait until she is ready to move, then apply for LTVP once she is in Sg?

Suggestions welcome.

It's already mid-jan & i heard the process takes around 2-6 weeks if you done PMLA. After approval, you will get your IPA which is valid for 2 months & she will be required to do a medical check up too. I think you should apply first. I am not sure if she would be required to show up for any interview during the process or not but in my case, we were not required to show up for any interview, only for formalities. My application took 17 weeks because i didn't apply PMLA. The chances of yours getting approved within 2-6 weeks is high if you got the LLE. Anyway nowadays there's budget airlines so if worse comes to worst, she can just book a cheap flight to SG for the weekend IF she's required to submit documents. For some people, it takes about 1month to even get an E-appointment for the formalities.

I'm in the same position as you. Except I'm a female. My spouse is an American. He quit his job to move here and hopefully the LTVP application will be approved. We have the PMLTVP approved but since then he had quit his job. We will be applying the LTVP within this week.

Really hope all goes well.

Have you heard anything from ICA yet?

Not sure if anyone's reading but just an update to anyone who is in the same situation. My husband's LTVP was approved in principle about 3-4 weeks after our submission. He had to go for a medical check up and we made an appointment to submit all the relevant documents and his application is now approved. Validity of 1 year period.

Some updates here. Wife and I flew in few weeks ago, we applied for LTVP.

Just received In Principle Approval today, took 2-3 weeks. Time to make photocopies and book the appointment.

Thanks for the help.
