How Do You Get Kids To Write That Thank-You Note?
This is driving me up the walls. I have used cajoling, sweet talking, gentle touches and when that did not work, I started using force and coercion. And all the manipulation that I can muster. It is falling on deaf ears. It has been over a decade already and still, my kids would not write a thank-you note for the presents they have received. I have told them they can do it in any form they choose....... email, card, phone call or even text. It is still not appealing to them.
Wondering if anyone has suggestions or tricks to help me get the job done?

'If you don't thank your wretched relative for their pitiful gift of £5 once a year they won't send it again'.
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

And where can I get hold of this kit? So I can get it on time for them to write their very own thank you note for their Christmas gifts. For once !

Hahaha, altho I took the opposite approach. "He took the time and effort and spend his hard earned money to get you a present, and you cannot even be bothered to write a thank you note. This is disappointing ". Anyway, they are still young. Maybe some day they will understand. For now, I am stuck with the job of sending it on their behalves

I kindoff of know it will not work. With these 2 kids. Any time they feel I am manipulating them and it is not out of their own free will, it is usually a no go. One just told me yesterday "do you know I can sue you if you take my picture and post it on your fb without my consent?". A thinly veiled threat ! All I did was ask her if I can take a pic of her when she was doing a monkey lip. And I do not have history of anyhow posting my childrens' photo.

"and do you know I am only legally required to feed you the bare minimum to sustain you (1 cup of rice per day and only water to drink), make you walk to school and house you in the barest level possible and everything else is a choice I can choose to make?".

I'm actually urgently looking for it myself. I need it to preserve my sanity when trying to walk through Vivocity, get on/off escalators, MRT trains and elevators, and encourage aisle sitters on busses to shift in. (I'll probably need to carry lots of batteries for it every time I go out too!)earthfriendly wrote:And where can I get hold of this kit? The story gets better. "OMG, I forgot to put a blank Thank You card with the Christmas presents, so my friends can send me a thank-you to me later". This coming from the same person who does not send out thank-you notes to others
. She had a Christmas gift exchange at school with her friends this morning.

Your child is a little precocious. But aren't they all now.

Just came across this and sharing. Piggybacking onto this parenting thread. Prince Charles got his second chance on (grand)parenting

Dear Abby
Just days before George's birth, Charles consulted a women's council on how to be a good grandparent. Their advice: "Love them and spoil them."
