Yeah, it is a bit like the govt is nudging employers to consider alternatives rather than go with the easy way of employing foreigners. This makes sense, if foreigners are very easy to hire, then local talent will never get developed, why would employers want to hire Freshers and spend money and train them. But there is a fine line, when employers may decide it is not worth it and take their business out of Singapore. So I think the gahmen knows this fine line and they see scope for pushing wages up further.

Exactly. I know of a 400 man project that was targeted for Sg but went to KL due to the uncertainty of labour laws at the time (this was probably 5 years ago). Regardless of the mix of local/ foreign workers, this was 400 jobs lost to Sg for good.

I agree with you on this. The self assessment tool had been through but when comes to approval it is quiet difficult as my company just got rejected, his pay is S$9K.

Actually the tool just showed the institution that i completed my diploma in as non existent.
This was not an issue till now .
I also have a masters and earn 15k . But the assessment tool says not eligible for spass or epass.

Hi! My IPA says my spass is renewed for another 36 months and today I received my new IC, I tried to scan it on SGWorkpass App and found out that my IC expiration is on 2020. Should I call MoM to clarify if my pass is really renewed for another 36mos?

IPA might be for 36 months. But at the time of pass issuance, employer can choose to select a shorter duration for issuing the pass. please check with your employer first before you speak to MOM

My Ep got rejected when applied for renewal on Oct 2018. I earn 5400 as a manufacturing engineer in oil and gas industry.
what are the chances for me to epass if appealed?
will dependent pass affected if my pass change from epass to spass?

Based on today’s standard, $5,400 won’t qualify you for DP application. You need to earn at least $6,000.

First ASK your EMPLOYER instead of asking here.

Check the pass issue letter.It will have all details.
