Lazy Tax Resident
I want to retire to Singapore and live off 0% tax capital gains. Is that possible? The rule says stay/work for 183 days to become resident. But staying over 183 days seems require some kind of employment pass.
Re: Lazy Tax Resident
There used to be a retirement visa, but is was removed some years back.
One of our regulars looked into retirement on a PR and found that it was possible, although you run the risk of the REP not being renewed at some point.
So as far as I know, unless you are a citizen, it is difficult to retire here. Being the pragmatic country it is, I'm sure there are ways if you are very wealthy.
Malaysia does have a retirement visa, that maybe worth a look.

Re: Lazy Tax Resident
The PAP have raised the prospect of 'new' taxes. Considering how much push back they are getting on raising the GST or income tax it's possible they may bring in a CGT soon.

Re: Lazy Tax Resident
I'd scratch Singapore off any 'low tax' list OP has. Maybe go to Monaco instead, the PAP have been pretty adamant Singapore's days as a low tax haven are gone.Strong Eagle wrote:You can still get PR in the global investor program.
