Pending Singapore Citizenship Application - and currently pregnant

Post by mkosh » Thu, 16 Nov 2017 5:57 pm

Hello,

Here's my profile:
- 30yo Indonesian Chinese Female
- Married (Husband also 30yo Indonesian Chinese)
- 1 Daughter 2.5yo
- Currently pregnant, EDD Apr 2018
- Three of us are PR

We applied Singapore Citizenship in Dec 2016, so application has been pending for 11+months.

My questions:
Q1. If application still pending by the time I give birth, does my newborn has to get her PR before we can include her in our current citizenship application or we can include her immediately? In my experience with my firstborn, it took 3 months for her PR application to get approval.

Q2. If we receive AIP before I give birth, is that means my newborn will automatically become singapore citizen when I completed the conversion process or she will still be foreigner and we need to apply citizenship for her separately?

Q3. If we receive AIP during her PR application (if she has to be PR before we can include her in current application - Q1) - same question as above, will she automatically become singapore citizen when I completed the conversion process or she will still be foreigner and we need to apply citizenship for her separately?

Sorry with many if as we are considering all possible scenarios :D

** if rejected, then we will just apply again together 8-[

If she is born after you gain SGC, she will be a Singaporean by birth. If she is born before you get citizenship, just notify ICA and give them the particulars and she will be included on the application if I'm not mistaken. A quick call to ICA will be the easiest way to make sure. If otherwise, they can give you the proper steps to do in order to make it as easy as possible.

Hi hi, noted, and thank you for the reply.

May I know what is SGC? couldn't think of any term..

Also, may I know when are we technically become Singapore citizen? After receiving Singapore Citizenship approval letter (ie. completing e-Journey, etc) or after renouncing former citizenship and completing Singapore Citizenship Registration?

SGC = SC = Singapore Citizenship

Yes, only after you renounce your foreign citizenship, complete SC registration and take the Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty

Ah icic. Used to hear SC only.

I guess we will wait then..

Even receiving AIP now, the whole process until renounciation can take up to 6 months, which I will give birth by then..
