A newly formed British start up would like to employ me to work remotely in Singapore, but they are not registered in Singapore.
Would I be able to leave my current job with the Singaporean company and work for the UK company under some kind of visa/pass? Would we need to register a Singaporean company to sponsor an EP? Is there any kind of pass I can get as a dependent of my girlfriend?
Thanks for any help or ideas
I have no idea of what a "sponsor" company is. Any company wishing to obtain an EP for an employee must justify that foreign hire. They must advertise for locals to fill the job first, only then can they approach foreigners.richter22 wrote:Thank you!
I read somewhere that the UK company could also apply for an EP through a sponsor Singaporean company. Is there any advice for what is required of the sponsor?
Have you heard of this before? If you are an overseas employer that does not have a registered office in Singapore:
You need to get a Singapore-registered company to act as a local sponsor and apply on your behalf.
The local sponsor must apply manually.
The candidate will still need to meet the Employment Pass criteria.
Yes - a headhunter, employment agency, or other outfit does this for money as I have stated. Nobody is going to do this for free. The local sponsor is still responsible for the EP... making sure you pay your taxes, paying your wages, filing change of address, etc. It is possible that your wages can be paid directly to your account by your overseas employer but that does not change the responsibility for EP oversight.richter22 wrote:I'm referring to the following section on the mom page about EPs:
