Want to save money? Recommend you rent a HDB flat. Cost 700-1500 per month (2 bedrooms to 3 bedrooms) for a whole unit. There is a little India in Singapore where many indians gather to network and hang out (but mostly blue collar worker) but here you will experience all the things which you may have back home. food/sweets/clothing/indian music CDs etc. It is located along Serangoon Rd. Food is very cheap. You can have a meal for as little as $4 to $5 (even in town at food courts). Cheaper if out of town.
Other expenses (per month)
Electricity - $50-80 (more if you have airconditioning everyday)
Line Telephone - $30
Transport - $100-150 (public tranports like trains/bues).
Cab cost is also quite affordable cf to developeed countries.
Medical - $20-50 per visit if you have general illness like flu/fever
Broadband - $50 (unlimited 512K)
Mobile phone - $40-60 (if you do not use it much eg. 10 min/day)
Drop me a PM. As I may rent out my place as I am relocating to NZ.
