Tax clearance

Post by bestrogan » Wed, 25 Oct 2017 11:06 pm

Hi,

I've had two jobs on LOC from 2 employers.
1) In 2016 - duration 1 month
2) In 2017 - duration 3 months

After resigning from the first job, IR21 was submitted by employer and the taxable amount was $0. I resigned from the second job, the income is less than $20,000 and the tax assessment is now in process.

According to my understanding I am considered resident tax payer (I'm living here 2nd year), and for income less $20k - the taxable amount will be $0. Does the fact that I've been employed before effect the outcome?

It shouldn't. It looks like two different years of assessments, 2016 and 2017. Had they been in the same year, it would be a different story.
