EP or nah? HELP NEEDED!!

Post by littlegal » Sun, 24 Sep 2017 8:39 pm

Hi all,

I'm a fresh grad from SMU (BBM degree) and a recipient of the MOE Tuition Grant (my bond is 3 years). I was offered a job at a small media firm, and they promised me 3.6K as starting salary. I accepted the offer, and they applied for an E-Pass. My in principle approval was also received. A few days later, the company called me to let me know that they were undergoing a downturn, and were going to offer me 2,500 instead. I was fine with this, but am afraid because it is way below the prescribed starting salary for E-Pass holders. Last Monday, they have filed an appeal to MOM to reduce the salary to 2.5 instead.

On a separate note, ICA has given me till 21st October to stay here while MOM processes everything, and have stated that they will not grant an extension. I will have to leave, apply for LTVP and re enter, according to them.

So, my fears are:

What are the chances of MOM throwing the entire application out of the window, or withdrawing the IPA? Anyone ever been in a similar situation? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated :)

You are not in a unique situation

Chance? Not a fortune teller. But not likely for MOM to flush your application

As long as your Employer wants you and willing to appeal etc, have faith.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, they have appealed already :) and are willing to keep me. MOM has said that it will take 3 weeks, which is longer than what they took for the initial EP to process lol. Just wondering, what happens to the original IPA? Is MOM going to give a new one?
