Hi everyone, after reading quite abit i gather that the best result risk aside seems to be the use of rib cartilage.

I for one have narrowed my choice to that but t seems the Drs recommend gortex when i showed my picture.

The use of rib cartilage is a more difficult approach and i reckon only a few names come to mind namely Dr Jung, Dr Hsu, Dr Torumi.

For now i am planning to head to korea to do under Dr Jung.

After reading DMN's experience, i am torn between Dr Jung and Dr Hsu.

I have no idea which to go.

I also noticed the scar that will be involved via this route.

This let me to think to go to a donor's cartilage but afraid of the risk.

Does anyone know the cost as well Under Dr Jung and Hsu?

thank you.

personally i see both the nose done by jung and hsu, each of the nose has it good and bad points, i dun think jung's nose job is not natural or something but some may find it not nice. i find it ok. however i am shock the goretex implant shifted which is not common as goretex has good grip unlike silicone. hence comparing rib with goretex is not fair as rib is the best implant for nose job as mentioned bt many nose specialist

i would like to ask if dmn got knocked or something? why it can deviated so much post op? hope u dun misunderstand, i am not against anyone but just wanted to learn more

however if u dun mind the pain of the ribs and scar.. u can consider rib for nose if it is what u want

before we go gaga over hsu's nose job via rib. i would like to show u the master of master in nose job.. one of the top 3 nose specialist in the world.

if budget is not a concern, u should see a earlier thread of dr toriumi did to a vietnamese gal for her nose. totally awesome piece of work.. dun think dr hsu jung or gao can hit that level of skill..this gal did a rib nose job. yeah silicone and goretex cant hit this std of perfection.. furthermore it is a revision job!

Price 10-15k usd

This patient underwent previous surgery in the orient and had erosion of a silastic implant through the skin of the nasal tip. This left a depressed scar over the nasal tip and tremendous scar tissue. The patient underwent a secondary rhinoplasty with placement of a costal cartilage rib graft to her bridge and tip. She also had a costal cartilage strut to support her tip. The photographs represent a one year postoperative result.

rib scaring and methods to deal with it

The rib cartilage is the best material for rhinoplasty. However, it also has some disadvantages like warping and scarring. Warping take place in 3-5% of patinets. Scar happens in 10% of patients(see as following a photo). But scar is small(about 3cm) and tends to disappear after steroid injection in a half of patients with scar. There is no perfectly ideal material for rhinoplasty, that's why materials has been to select on its own purpose.

i know this dr toriumi patient looks really good after, but considering there's a factor that she has a high forehead pre-op that's what made her high nose fit in naturally. If it's on a flatter face chinese or korean like most of them it won't look as good, that's why i was asking about forehead before but seems like noone here has done it

Dr Toriumi's assistant doesn't even reply my email. Anyone got in touch with him?

Hmm good to know you know abt PS surgery. more than most reader here. yes she has a high brow and strong enough to allow her to do a high nose.
This is one of the condition where i call ppl with high potential for PS.

however this used to be a problem but can be sometimes can be solved with forehead/brow implant. i cant remember the implant name but cupidz (a forumer) did it with dr chuang before to allow him to have higher bridge that look eurasian..

However what i am more interested in for the gal abv is not the bridge but the nose tip. Reason. Nose tip is much harder to work than bridge. it really tell the doc skill is at the tip not the bridge. noticed she did not need alarplasty..

it seem you have no budget problem. u should consider calling him at his office. hope to hear good news soon

FYI: if u notice, TW PS doc are not that good in working on the nose tip. It seem jap doc and only certain korean doc are good at it...

Hello everyone!

Its taken me ages to register here due to my computer. I used to post on this forum about3/4 years back i THINK i was under the name as ukchinesegirl but cant remember my password...was along time ago.If am wrong and you are ukchinesegirl please let me know! But i definately was a regular poster here.

Anyways, am currently 20 years old now. On the surgery front I had my eyes done in Malaysia when I was 18 through the cutting method, was quite a painful experience....not the actual surgery itself but finally confessing to family i wanted it done and having them accept me for wanting to do it and the stress of doing it one day in advance lol. Anyways if anyone wants to ask any questions feel free to ask.

Recently this year I had a breast augmentation, none of my family know only my friends. Its strange as my breast size never bothered me, I was a large B up to a large D....Had it done in the UK at home as theres not any difference between asian and western breasts (?)

But anyway now i want my nose done which is why am back on here!I cant believe how long the thread is am only on page 63 and wanting to read the other threads.

Its so hard to choose a particular surgeon, so many factors. I am looking for a surgeon that does alar and nose tip refinement, no implants or anything as my nose is already high. Also a chin implant and maybe jaw reduction. But at the meantime I am fishing my way through this thread but I thought id introduce myself first!

Hi Tahj.... thank you for responding.

I agree with you the photo you showed is a masterpiece.

I for one cant tell if its operated if i were to see this patient.

Imho till date i have yet to see such an amazing result.

Its a total transformation and yes i look at the tip as well which is to me the most impt feature of the nose.
I showed Prof Jung the picture and he told me he can achieve that.

He did mention also that the use of gortex on me will be sifficent because i only required a few mm and that my nose is not that flat.

I told him my concern about gortex and how it shrinks over time. He assured me that the method he used to apply the gortex is compressed and will have minimal/negligible changes over time.

For the tip he will use My ear cartilage.

When i expressed my concern of gortex again and my reluctance to use any foreign material, he explained that he still believe the best material is rib cartilage.

He will be able to just use rib cartilage for the entire restructuring of my nose.

He said the only drawback of it is the cost and the scar which he says on 90% of paiteint should vanish

He said the operation will be 4hrs vs 1.5hrs if i use gortex.

This means a cost about 8000USD vs 5000USD.

The results he told me again will be almost the same and the choice is mine to make.

So there it is i am faced with a dilemma here. My mind says since both give similar results i should save 3000USD! and go with the gortex.

However, my heart says gortex is a foreign material and it gives me an insecure feeling as would something more natural like rib cartilage.
(I would touch my nose knowing its not part of me and some foreign object)

PS: Tahj, would you mean telling me which doc u used and what procedure.? And if Dr jung is a good canidate for my operation. i would say my nose is somewhat similar to the viet gal above and the results i am looking for is not far off either:)

Thank you

If you have been on this forum for quite a while, I think you should remember that her nose is inherently crooked. She did mentioned this a couple of times; it has nothing to do with Dr Jung.

oic no wonder coz dr jung wouldnt make such a loust nose job loh.. Yupz i have the same problems too.. which means if i can do a normal nose job, soon my nose will deviate like DMN as the foundation is not straght hence either have to do rib or go for a nose restructuring operation which cost abt 5k sgd... sad. i cant just go for a simple goretex implant...

if he can really do that than i can say at 5kusd will be a steal coz dr toriumi cost easily 15-20k for rib surgery complex..

hope to hear good news from you soon. u can consider doing with goretex 1st before going for rib if it doesnt work out. i am sure doc jung will give u a good rate if u "upgrade" to rib in the future or result is not as he promised..

Hmm thanks for the response.

15-20k USD to get a satisfied nosejob. wow...

Guess you got to pay more to get a better nose

Anyway back to the 2 docs.

Both are ENT and prefers rib cartilage.

How much better is Dr torumi or does he employ a different technique?

I really wonder how a nose can come out so different between doctors.

I am still worried about gortex...though it is 3000USD cheaper.!

tan..yeah I heard it from my korean friends if you want to do face work korea is better but I can't imagine myself going to korea with the language barrier, i've seen some work the tw doc do it's pretty decent. My nose isn't bad at all to begin with, i have a baby small nose but I just like that mixed look.
Who did you have your nose done again?

dr kao and dr chuang's price are similar. it's only around 500 usd diff so who cares.. considerin i've already spent so much time and money on this crap lol

dr kao prefer gortex over silicone though

as I said i'll decide a doc after my consults...
but what to say to the doctor that I end up not going to? I feel bad making them squish me into their busy schedule and bombard them with questions at then end didn't even do it. Plus I might need to come back to them for some other work in the future I don't wanna leave a bad impression. Anyone got an idea.
