I have some interesting psychological issues to ask you all. Give me some feedbacks ya.

I am curious about how do you guys deal with opening yourself up to friends about plastic surgery? Do you open yourself up to all people? And do you all hide yourself during the recovery stage?

And if you dont admit, there are bound to have some who will know you did plastic surgery, and how do you deal with these issues.

I guess this is an essential stage for those who did plastic surgery. It really requires quite a lot of courage to do so (I mean open yourself up = more criticism and somehow putting your image down). :) However, for those who criticizes plastic surgery people wouldnt understand or look at this point, they tend to focus more on other negative attributes, which is quite humorous when you think about it from another angle.
i def hid myself during recovery, i looked like i was bashed up!

I admit to whatever people can tell (not every part i did is obvious). if they ask you about it, obviously they already know/suspect you changed something. Denying it is insulting their intelligence, and they will prob spread it behind your back, and cast u in a negative light.

I'd rather admit to them, and tell them, shhhh, dun tell anyone else... they most prob will anyway, but at least they will admire my courage for admitting to it :)

Epicanthoplasty

Post by danita » Fri, 28 Sep 2007 1:15 pm

Hi there,

I'm a newbie, but I've been following this thread (534 pages and all) over the past few days. I'm tossing up between a few procedures but I think epicanthoplasty is the main one I'm considering at the moment.

Does anyone of any surgeons in Thailand who perform that procedure? I've been to Yanhee's website and it seems all they offer is blepharoplasty. I'm considering Thailand because the prices are a good deal cheaper, but from reading through the posts, it seems like Thai surgeons don't do epicanthoplasty.

Has anyone heard differently? Or have a doc to recommend? Thanks!

they usually only list the common procedures on the website. I had to email them to ask whether they do jaw implants (not listed on website), and they actually do...

Thanks Aadvark,

Really enjoyed reading your posts btw -- very informative, open and coherent. You've seriously induced a lemming for your Haatyaai doctor -- he seems so cheap!

Is there a way you could send me your before and afters if you don't mind?

Also, would you know if your surgeon does epi? I'm in Australia and I'm trying to work out if I should go to Thailand or to Singapore instead, but Thailand wins on price so far.

Nara doesn't do epicanthoplasty from what I know, you can drop an email to Yanhee tho, they are an aesthetics hospital so more likely to have wider variety of procedures... I'm pretty interested to find out too lol :D

Hey thanks for all the responses to my this post. I find it really interesting to hear from you guys about it. Haha.

For me, my opinons are a little different. I will only tell those I am really close with and trust as its more comfortable to do so. About the rest, I will try to change the topic if they happen to ask or remain silent and move on to do my things. Maybe they will talk behind me, or maybe they will just forget the topic. :P If the person is kind-hearted, they wont gossip much. They will tend to respect and accept it. However, if they happen to be critical and mean, who cares for these people. But after a while, their curiousity will stop and it'll be okay.

Gossips spread more and more, and I wouldnt want to hear people say: "Oh, I know her, she is the one who did plastic surgery before." Lol.

Yeah, I have a problem with how much I should disclose as well.

The thing about PS is that it's still tainted by stigma and is seen as something frivolous and stupid and vain. If I do end up going under the knife, I'm going to let my close friends know of course. Anything else would be an insult. I'd probably speak to my employers about it too, as I would most likely be back at work with a swollen and stitched up face.

Or I could just say I got maimed by an escaped bear from the zoo...
