Hi eilin18,

Thanks!! And how was your recovery? How long did your nose bridge take to settle into your final height? My chin's still a bit puffy.

Cheers,
grumpy

I wish you have a speedy recovery!!

Expenditure in Taipei

Post by grumpy99 » Thu, 16 Aug 2007 8:28 pm

Hi, I can roughly estimate but haven't seen my credit card bills:

Surgery (nose+chin) = $5500
Hotel (11 days in 2 different hotels) = $1220
Airfare (SQ) = $630
Food and snacks/drinks = $850 (I mostly eat at restaurants but you can cut down on this by eating cheaply)
Transport = $400 (airport transfer by taxi, and around Taipei by taxi)

Total = $8600

This is the basic expenses, because I spent quite a bit more on shopping. But you can cut down on your costs by eating cheaply (at foodcourts/take-aways) and taking the train instead of taxi. However, I suggest eating well because you're healing and good food (lots of dimsum restaurants in Taipei) will make you happy!

It's only 13 days for me, but my nose is not swollen already. My nose bridge is just a bit high. Dr Chuang used cartilage from my nose (septal cartilage).

You must remember that when you go for rhinoplasty, it means changing the shape or the look of your nose! So it will definitely look a bit strange even to yourself in the mirror. People you know, when they see you, will surely notice the change.

On the 4th day, I was already out and about walking, shopping, sightseeing in Taipei. No one will think you have a strange nose because the change is only obvious to yourself and those you know.

But be prepared to go back to school or work to a lot of questions and curious looks!

After 2 weeks, does your nose look fake or swollen?

Yes. Dr. Chuang does use goretex, and silicone. But, in his opinion, goretex is not always the best material to use. It is dependent upon the individual's face and preferences.

For my personal case, I already had a good thin moderately high bridge, so he just added a 3 mm silicone L and trimmed it for me.

If you have no bridge or want a large increase, you will need goretex for it too look natural.

Silicone only looks unnatural when you add a lot of height. Generally, if you want to use silicone you can add 3 mm for thin bridge, 5 mm for medium bridge, and 7 mm for wide bridge, without it looking unnatural.

So basically, silicone is successful if the correct shape and size and application is chosen.
I believe goretex is also successful, and I think Dr. Chuang does to, but generally, he opts for silicone over goretex because he says that goretex long term effects as a nose implant are simply unknown, and it is very difficult to remove after a long time.

Hi Jang, are you going to check out both Dr. BC Ng and Dr. Tan? If I've not mistaken, you've already been to one session of Dr Ng? How was the results? Do they have any website that I can browse through? Thanks!

Since there're so much raves about Dr Ng being the pioneer of aesthetics, I'm just wondering if he's good with removing dark eye circles. Do you have a number for me to contact the clinic? Very much appreciate your help! Thanks :D

Hi Grumpy,

When i did my nose, I still had filler around the bridge. Therefore, my bruises were quite jia lat (bad). Dr Chuang may have tried to squeeze the filler out. I had panda eyes for two good weeks.

As for chin, Dr Chuang have to re-stitch some parts of the wound because the wound opened (ate solid food) he..he..he.. After 2-3 weeks then I can see my face shape. Now it has been a month, all of my stiches have fallen off except one. Tightness can still be felt around the jaw esp the area below my lip. I still cant get used to my new chin. My lip alignment has changed and I cant really talk properly. Some of words are hard to say. Sometimes im wondering how i look when i smile. lol

Cheers!

Hi

Thanks for the advice and knowledge given.
I felt much better and safer to opt for silicon now.
Am thinking of going to Dr Chuang end of next year, If anyone interested can pm me.
