hI GUMMY
I think you need a gum surgery not lip surgery.
Try National Dental Centre. Look for Dr Tay

Gummy wrote:Hi...anyone ever heard of any kind of lip surgery here in Sg? I need to correct my smile...because I've got a gummy smile. :(

I researched but apparently my prob doesnt come under orthodentistry, where they do stuff to your teeth or ur gums to reduce the gummy smile. My teeth are fine the way they are.

What I'm looking for is to bring my upper lip down so it covers my gums more... So when I smile, the upper lip is just above my upper teeth. Like a slice of orange...that kind of semicircle shape.

Bcos currently when i smile, the upper lip becomes an arc...

I want it a straight horizontal line across my face. Is there a way to maybe get the inside of the upper lip sewn down to the gums?

txbmandy-

thanks for sharing ur experience! Which PS operated on u & can u share with us how much was the total cost?

So were u able to go out in public by day 4/5? Was the result obvious to ur colleagues/family? Wondering what 'excuse' I would have to make up for the change...rather not tell everyone i went for surgery. Also, on a scale of 1-10, how painful was the whole procedure??

thanks in advance, and sorry for the 101 questions! :D

Also wondering if I should go to Dr Huang. I dont mind it being pricier if the skill level corresponds, but not if I end up paying for a designer interior deco....

I suppose it just augments the nose bridge, similar to an injection I had, thou the material they used in my case was semi-permanent (some sugar compound) that dissolves into the body in 6 months. The PS said my results were "excellent, very beautiful" thou I think its way too subtle, and does nothing for the size of the nose. :?

Thats why i am considering a proper rhinoplasty now. Hoping for more people to share their rhinoplasty experiences, good or bad.
sorry. its page 20, not 26!

halo again, kook!

understand you found my posting on pg 20.

my ps dr sukit worathrmrong @ yanhee general hospital. he's a man with big nose, big glasses, but very kind and friendly, not mentioning very experienced.

my total cost on rhinoplasty only, plus new patient fee (ie. i think this is the so-called consultation fee) amounted to less than 18,250.00 baht. based on my conversion last mth, S$755.00! so i am not kidding when i said 'our shopping spree costs more than the ops'. i just happened to read a posting by candy_t on page 22-jun 27, and thought our costs is quite similar to hers. i believed her hubby followed her to bangkok, just as mine did!

yes, you can go out on day 4 onwards. in fact, i went out on day 2 late noon (when the sun is not that strong) with plasters on my nose! day 3 is already my shopping and makan day - with my nose bandaged still! but got the guts with support from my spouse who kept telling me, 'relax...who knows you here in bangkok? no one! ps is common, no worries!'.

if you are worry about friends or relatives knowing, which is same worry for most of us including myself, rest assured! the change is Natural! no one will notice! but you will look better! till now, one exact month after my ops, i met up with at least 10 friends, not including my family members or working colleagues - and none noticed except i got one friend who is suspicious! this is my one and only friend among all who exceptionally loves to observe noses of ppl. but even then, she just cannot believe i just had rhinoplasty, because its so natural! but trust me, i knew she's smelling a rat but just cant be sure (ie. i meet her at least twice in a month, and 2 weeks before my ops, we even went out for coffee)! so no excuse needed...but you will look lots better. believe me, i had an ex-colleague who met up with me just yesterday evening, and said i look more and more beautiful! its the effect..i knew it!

you will not feel any pain during the ops at all - on anesthetic!
scale 6: post ops pain on 1st day
scales 4/3/2: day 2-4
scale 0: 5th day on

expect fever and swellings on day 2 & 3, on a descending scale. more discomfort on day 2 due mostly to swollen eyes!

do rest with your head elevated at least 25-30 degree, or you'll swell more. sleep always facing the ceiling, not to the sides in case you knock your new bridge off its centre line! do drink lots of water to bring down your fever.

when your nose in bandage, do not worry yourself when you looked into the mirror. you may see your nostrils as piggish, or slanted to one side, or there's threat mark, etc. all these would be alright or subsided once the first week is over. today i stand to tell you that i worried myself unnecessarily during then.

rhinoplasty on my mind for at least 5 years, but only get to do it when cost is right. i know its scary when there is no one there for your reference, esp in terms of skill. so no prob...just keep your questions coming in. will tell you honestly whatever you need to know.

cheers! :D

txbmandy - thanks for your explanation! Guess what, i told my hubby my intention last nite & he freaked out! :( Said i dont need it, blah blah, dont know why i want to risk it, what if it turns out wrong, blah blah..... now i dont think i can even go along with it anymore, much as I would love to
I think its the end of discussion as far as he is concerned. He said he would raise it to my parents for a 2nd opinion, and let me go ahead if they are alright with it...like they would be, or like i would want them to know. Sigh....how now brown cow??
