Hannah Lee wrote:Hi there,

someone asked me these questions bout the surgery so thought I'd share.
Dr. Jung has a fixed pricing system so its US$4000 for primary and think its US$5500? for revision. If u use ur own rib cartilage the cost goes up to US$5500 for primary. Since I only wanted to do alar reduction, I asked if he can give a discount so he did it for me for US$2000. He told me if I ever wanted augmentation or anything else done whether its 3mths or 3 yrs later he will only charge me US$2000. So 2 days later when I decided to lenghten and add implant he charged me the diff of $2000. Total cost =US$4000.

I stayed at Excellentvill....the same service apt that Rabbit stayed at. I was there for 8 days. If u have surgery with Dr. Jung I recommend staying there cuz its cheap and very easy to use subway to get to his clinic. Its a direct line, only bout 4 or 5 stops and very convenient. The accomodations are basic but quite comfortable and I like that u have ur own mini kitchen for cooking. For 8 nites I paid US$300.

Black Creamer: I tried to pm u but it didn't work! But after my first op which was alar reduction alone, the shape of my nose did change alot. It was much more narrow and pointy and my nostrils turned up a bit more. I was shocked by how much more narrow it was. But funnily enough after the 2nd op with lenghthing and augmentation, now it looks wider a bit? The shape of my nose definitely did change alot after but it looks very natural. My main issue is not the shape of my nose but that my bridge is high. I must be the only asian person in the world who doesn't like high bridges....I liked my flat nose before. But after alar my nostrils pointed up so much. So no choice but to augment and make them smaller. As for the pain and healing of my alar scars....its not too bad. Now 9 days post op there are faint red lines running along the side of my nose. To me its obvious but when I ask others they don't even notice a thing until I ask them to look very closely. I bought this cream called Mederma that fades scars. After day 14 I think it will be healed enough to start using it. As for pain, sometimes when I forget I had surgery and laugh or make facial expressions I will feel a twinge of pain in the incision area. But its very minor so don't need to worry. Just try not to make too many funny faces when its healing I guess

Chiquita: Dr. Jung's nurses don't speak much English....I had to do alot of miming and actions to make them understand me. And even then it didn't help much. His email should work, that's how I made all the arrangements and stuff. And if u choose to go to him, he even arranges for ur airport pickup so u don't have to worry bout how to get to his clinic.

Leenaaa: How is ur new look settling in? Somedays I really super regret my surgery but other times I think it looks quite nice. I guess I just need to let my new look sink in. I used to think that plastic surgery is minor, like a walk in the park. After watching so many shows like Dr. 90210, THe Swan, etc that makes it look so easy, I had a warped idea of what its really like. The consequences are very real, and I don't think I'll be messing with my face anymore. Just hope to heal up well and I won't ask for anything else!
Hi Hannah Lee,
I will try to email him again and see. When you did the alar reduction only did you notice any difference on the shape of your lips e.g. pinched and pulled upwards towards the nose? 1 of the Drs. I went for consultation with in Singapore said that I might not like the after effect of alar reduction; my lips would appear pinched and pulled towards my nose. Was this true for your case? Did you use your rib cartilage or was goretex sufficient for your case? Do you mind sharing your picture with me pls? It's ok if you don't wish to. Many thanks for your reply.

Hannah Lee: Don't worry, your bridge will settle down a bit more in due time. Did Dr Jung tell you about the exercise of your nose? He also has some nose guard/shaper which is a plastic thing which molds in hot water then hardens when cooled.

Anyone planning to do with Dr Jung:
1) Phone number: +82 2523 3222
2) Seoul is +9 GMT (an hour ahead of Singapore)
3) Look for Jay-Jay, he's an English-speaking guy there. Can arrange for time of operation. Can ask to get you from the airport
4) One nurse who speaks a bit of English is Yun Ji Kim. She's a bit chubby and pretty, she's very kind and accomodating too.

leenaaaa: Hang in there. It's natural (I think, cuz I've gone through it also) to be depressed and regret you've done it after all (especially thinking all the $$$). I'm not giving false hopes but our nose just like the rest of our body will heal towards the most biologically natural way.

Leenaa: Now that the swelling is slowly going down, the bridge seems to start lower, like further down not between the eyebrows. And when Dr. Jung took off my cast 5 days post op, the first thing he did was grab the bridge and yank it REALLY hard to the right. It made me almost yelp in pain, but he told me it was slightly crooked to the left so now he had pulled it back to the middle. Because my right ear had surgery, so every night I was sleeping on my left to avoid hurting my ear. So I wasn't surprised that it leaned to the left a bit. Dr. Jung told me that its ok to push the bridge urself if u notice its crooked....but only for the first week or so. A couple of days after he adjusted it for me, I felt it was still slightly off center so I pushed it really hard again and now its seems nice and straight. Have u tried pushing the implant? Do u have goretex or silicone? And cuz I had my nose lengthened, my nose tip is also really numb and hard. I hate touching it cuz it feels like a foreign object on my face. But I guess its still healing so I'm not worried. That really sucks that Dr. Kim is ignoring you. If a patient is unhappy its pretty bad to just brush off their concerns like that.

Chiquita: The alar reduction didn't change my lips in any way at all. I guess alar has a lot to do with the surgeon's technique and skill. Some ppl have worse scarring and some ppl better depending on where they place the incisions. And dr jung used goretex for my bridge. I think rib cartilage is better but they have to cut a small piece frm ur rib and it will leave a little scar. Its also a more major operation.

Vaneguy: Thanks for the reassurance. When I first saw my bridge I wanted to cry. But now its getting better and more natural looking so I feel alot more optimistic. And I use the splint he gave me at night. Its good cuz its molded to the shape of ur nose so every couple of days I have to make a new one as the swelling goes down. At least it helps u see that there is an improvement when u see that the splint is too big.

Iamdanny - the injection for the filler was like any normal injection - just that u would need about 5-6 jabs! And nope, like i mentioned, just some mild bleeding for a couple of seconds, and no need for a cast.

I guess my protein filler was ex cos it was Dr Wu (prices all marked up)? I didn't opt for a permanent filler then in case i didn't like the effect. And nope, the filler didn't change my nose much - maybe like a 1mm improvement to the height- and i did go for a rhinoplasty (L shaped implant) 1 month back. Unfortunately, my nose still looks almost similar :? , should have gone for an alarplasty as well! :x

Hi Eustacia,

Thanks for Dr KK Lim's contact. I just went for a consultation with him today and have booked my double eyelid surgery for next Fri. Am very very excited and can't wait to go!

Was your surgery just with stitches or did you have a small excision with stiches? He recommended for me to have a small excision with stiches for permanancy.

How many days does it take for the swelling to go down and the eyes to look natural?

Hey Leeeeeena!

sorry I haven't been checking this board.
Anyway, you were thinking about rhinoplasty with Dr Seah right?

I just did mine with Dr. Seah a few days ago, I love the result. Though he didn't give me what I wanted, but he hit it close enough. However, I think my expectations were really too high, so basically, he did a good job on me. hehe .. very satisfied. =)

I have no choice but to wait anyways.. no $$ but thinking of going for a consultation with Dr Seah anyways. So far no reply from Dr K past 3 days (but he has time to respond to the online consultation). Also, I emailed the Korean Plastic and Reconstructive Society and the Korean Society for Aesthetic PLastic Surgery asking them what I can do. Hope they reply. I didn't mention who the surgeon was though. Giving Dr K a week to reply.

Hannah Lee,

Your experience deffinately sounded better than mine! Let us know how you are getting along!

Everyone who has had rhino,

The tip of my nose is still hard and a little numb. Did you guys experience the same thing>? How long before it softens up?

The tip of my nose is also hard .. but not super hard kinda hard la .. but then .. I like it that way .. more definition to the nose .. also the tip pulls the side of the nostrils outwards .. and it doesn't look so fat anymore!

About the softening part, I am not sure for you .. but I think for mine, it wouldn't .. cause there's a silicon there .. and it would be hard .. always .. wouldn't it .. haha .. but I can't be bothered .. cause I like it that way.

If you don't mind me asking what procedure did you have done? Does your implant start between the eyes or just below the eyebrows? Do you know if he has done any revision rhinos? I am gonna have a consultation with him tomorrow but want to check beforehand.

I think mine is a difficult procedure because first of all it is a revision case. Also, I want to have my current implant removed and possibly replaced with a thinner implant starting between the eyes. I also want to have the tip sharpened and to have the base of the collumnella (the bit between the 2 nostrils) lengthened. Dr K only lengthened my nasal tip and not the base of the collumnella so that the bottom bit is hidden by the wings of my nostrils (from the side view).
I had a rhinoplasty? .. erm .. the normal one I guess, my implant start between the eyes. However, I am a guy and I have a strong brow bone so having it high looks better on me. About the revision part, he did a revision on me, however, the first time was also by him, it wasn't as high as I would like and so he made it higher.

I believe you would have a great consult with him tomorrow! Cause he is very patient and nice to talk to. I am also having my appointment tomorrow for a review to see how's my nose doing. Perhaps would bump into you. =P
