Martin Huang is no doubt good, but the price you are paying is not "a bit extra". He charged about S$6K for rhinoplasty. But really, it all depends on yourself on who you want to go to.

Let's put it this way. There are no surgeons in this world who can guarantee the best result. You go to MH, WW or any other famous surgeon to do a surgery, but they cannot guarantee that definitely you will look best. There are risk to any sort of surgery. But, of course you can rely on their experience and skill. If you go to WW because you think that he can definitely give you a marvellous looking nose, i think you already started out with a wrong mentality. Look through this forum, there are also people who is complaining about them. So, how do you define who is good and who is not?

When choosing a surgeon, make sure:
1) you are comfortable with him
2) he explains the risks involved, and not painting a beautiful picture to you
3) he don't guarantee result
4) you both understands that not all surgeries are perfect. Are you able to handle if the surgery don't go as well as expected? Don't expect perfection. Nobody can guarantee that.
5) he has gathered enough experience and skills throughout his years of being a PS
6) he has the same point-of-view as you when it comes to beauty. A doctor who thinks ultra big eyes plus stick-high nose plus ultra big mouth = beauty will do exactly the same thing to your face.

If you notice, "popularity" and "famous" is not one of the criteria listed above. There is a very popular PS in Taipei, he appears on alot of TV shows to talk about PS. Alot of celebrity go to him for liposuction, nosejob etc. And guess what, he doesn't have a qualification in PS! What he has is a GP cert. But yet, because he is famous, people flock to him in spite of the fact that he is not really qualified.

You get my point?

Yes i did mention in my previous post that i will go to MH for consultation. But, that is because i trust his taste in beauty and i want to know what else i can enhance. But it doesn't mean i will go to him for surgery. If he suggest chin implant, cheekbone reduction etc, depending on the price, i might do with him (but i doubt so lah, his charges are horribly high!), or i will go Taipei to ask for the same procedure. I just want an opinion, based on his point-of-view in beauty, what i can do.

I go to Singapore and Bangkok every now and then, that is why I am considering a surgeon in these two places. If Dr M Huang is very good and he has no patients who wants revisions then maybe the heavy price might be all worth it in the long term. I have also heard of Woffles Wu being one of the top 20 plastic surgeons in the world. Is this true? I just want to do this surgery once and not have to think about revisions...even if I pay a bit extra. If there are good surgeons who charge less, I'd definitely go for them of course, but how do I go about finding them? You have been an awesome source of helpful jovin, thanks again!

Hi,

Usually koreans have that not-very-big-eyes, ultra high nose, small mouth and small face small chin small jaw look... i don't like it. I like sexy and wild look. That is why so far i don't find any korea actress pretty... hee.. errrrr, pretty yes lah, but not the kind of style i like.

I put my pic as my avatar just now, then i decided to change to the side profile of my nose. So the avatar you saw is my face (full face) or this side profile pic? Anyway, yes, both pic is me... hee...

hi jovin personally i think yur nose looks decently nice (not the plastic look) not to mention its significant height. I like the bridge between your eyes, very prominent. I am happy for you as I believe you are now more confident and comfortable with yourself. I believe with your new look and pleasant character (judging from the thread you have posted), you will definitely find a better guy than your ex. (sorry to mention about him) but I can't help it but to reassure it.

Jovin,
what do you think about Korean actresses
like Chae Rim...she had her nose done..

what do you think of her nose?

I agree with the previous post..
your nose has considerable height..
but still maintains its natural look..very nice.

OH are you going to do mesotherapy?

I wonder if it's as effective as it sounds.
I'd love to get rid of those cellulites.

:D

chae rim is very sweet looking, very demure....you know the sort of damsel who man would want to protect.

However she is just too sweet for me. I prefer a more independant kinda look like cecilia cheung or jennifer aniston. Just my opinion haha

Do know Harisu, the transgendered celebrity? Well I must admit that she looks better than many gals out there although he is a male (initially).

I wonder who is her PS, he really did a good job on her. or HIM?

Oh I chose that because the price is reasonable ... as I am doing both my jaw and my nose .. doing in the private hospital would cost like about ... from what I understood was ... 15 to 16K Sing Dollars. Also, the head of the NUH, Prof Lim Thiam Chye is quite renowned but the other doctor, Dr. Jane Lim, second in hierachy, I was unable to search for more information on her on the net ... but I guess she would be quite good as well.

Jovin, I agree with everything you have said. I don't much care for a popular PS but I want someone who is competent and realistic. I am not looking for perfection but it better be an improvement at any rate! My case: I have a deviated septum which I was advised to correct as a teenager. I am 31 now and I am having more difficulty breathing now with my nose. Since I have to get this done I just want to make sure I get the best esthetic outcome. I'd just like to know why PSs from NUH, SGH, and other government places arnt well known for their work in this area. I want a good one (of course, every surgery has risks but an educated and well-informed one is what we all go for) popular or not.

And, do you know when swimming is allowed? I swim./snorkel/dive like weekly.....

Good stuff

wenhwa, wow, that's a HUGE difference in price! If your surgeon is understanding to the patients needs, available post-op, and competent, then it's all good. Do you know if he shows before and after shots of his patients? Does he do the nose?
