Hi Alana
I'm Singaporean and am living in New Zealand myself, and I do sympathise with foreigners. I believe that it is very important for foreigners to find the right group of friends. Finding positive people and making them your community is very important.
Ignore those racist pigs, they are absolute arseholes! They only spoil the image of Singapore. In my humble oppinion, but this is just an idea, so correct me if I'm wrong. What about making friends with Singaporeans who love the European culture and who travel to Europe every now and then? Then perhaps you can have a more positive image about Singapore? Also this will make you feel more at home wouldn't it? There are people in Singapore who love the European culture, I know it as I'm Singaporean. Negative people will only spoil the image of Singapore.
Now let me share with you about my experience about Germany when I was living there. I met neo-nazis who told me to go back home to china! But there are lots of postive people in Germany too and I took that as a basis to give Germany a chance and now I too have German longterm friends even friends from Austria.
So do give Singaporeans a chance to be nice, its not that bad when you ignore those racist pigs.

Is that what its really like? Im getting worried now! I heard that socially Europeans are slightly looked down on? but also heard that Singaporeans are really welcoming?
Last time i was in asia was in thailand and people were so friendly and complimentary. I mean I get looked at in England, because i have long legs, slim and blonde. But what so in Singapore i may get laughed at because of that??
