Singaporeans and Caucasians
Maybe expats expectations are too high if they come to Singapore. Singapore is just not that different or special.
The notion of a multicultural society is wrong.
The different ethnicities dont really mix around with others.
Wherever you go you here stereotypes and bias about chinese, indian, malays and caucasians...multicult. is only on the surface...dig deeper and u will see the prejudice against the respective other races or religion in Singapore.

THERE ARE MORE SINGAPOREANS WHO ARE WORLD WIDE CITIZENS AND AS SUCH ARE VERY WELCOMING......THAN THIS DAFT PERSON WHO POSTED THE LAST POST.....
I lived with you all for eight years and may do again soon......I KNOW all sorts of very kind,, welcoming, funny, crazy, caring locals....
Ignore the bad vibes you read.

Actually if history serves correctly it was set-up by the English to get what they could out of the South East Asia.Anonymous wrote:Singapore was built up by Chinese, not malays ok.
And we will be able to tackle the future without westeners.
The world is small anmd everyone needs everyone - Why be so narrow minded - Singapore is more then just chinese people.
The last holdout of the hillbillies
The last remaining hillbillies ie ah bengs and sengs and even for these most are enlightened enuf to see that singapore has to embrace other cultures, are perhaps the fiercest and most insecure in their insistence in all things chinese...btw the chinese in singapore have lost most of their chineseness and so begs the question, what are the hillbillies holding out for? an enclave of bengs and sengs who have had their chineseness bleached out by western and other contiguous cultures.. no wonder they act so frightened... pity the poor buggers

Singapore has grown strong and competitive globally through its multicultural make-up among other things. Human resources are its most competitive advantage.
Singaporean define themselves not along racial lines but in their persistent and successful struggle to succeed.
No matter what ethnicity you are, no matter where you re coming from - as long as you have these kiasu instinct inside you can consider yourself a Singaporean.

Your totally insensitive and racist comment just begs to be addressed. Its pretty obvious your education or lack of (to be precise) speaks volumes abt the kind of ignorant buffoon you are and I'm ashamed to call your kind a S'porean.Anonymous wrote:Singapore was built up by Chinese, not malays ok.
You have pointedly ignored the Indians, Malays, and Eurasians who have contributed to S'pores growth and form an integral part not only of Singapore's history but its culture but I suppose all this is probably going to be wasted on your ineffectual ability to grasp even the most basic information. I take great offence in your claim and of only giving credit to the Chinese. What are the rest of us then? Chopped liver?
Lest you forget, let me give you a quick history tour down memory lane as you seem to be both obtuse and clueless. Singapore was discovered by a Hindu prince, (not Chinese) who named it Singa-pura which translates to Lion City. Stamford Raffles founded it in 1819 and Singapore is its Anglicised version. In the early days, peoples from China, India and Arabia came to trade and some came to seek work and many settled here. The Malays were already here as this was their home and land. They all helped to build Singapore.
