next time you're in Singapore please beware, the toilet paper in the gents bogs at Dohby Gaunt MRT station is in a dispenser in the entrance, not as one would expect in the cubicle. I found out the hard way.

How would this help in this specific issue?

Roll Back, recover from Image.
I honestly don't know what app is used for the Forum, but the possibilities are endless once you virtualise.

Phpbb. Its based on sql and there is no problem to extract individual records from a backed up, full copy file. I would think the main challenge was to identify what went missing (and why it disappeared). No virtual machine and some high level tools for selective extraction are going to help with it.
