Driving to KSL City Mall

Post by bczm8703 » Tue, 22 Aug 2017 2:46 pm

intend to drive to KSL Mall with a few of my friends during Deepavali. would like to check what do i need to drive to JB?

From LTA website i know i would need Car Insurance cert and the road tax validity thingy. i remember the news was saying about the VEP thing, do i need this to enter Malaysia?

This questions may sound noob but this is my first time driving to Malaysia, does the passengers need to alight at SG customs or Msia Custom, we are going via Woodland checkpoint?

1. You need a payment mechanisn (touch and go card) for VEP (RM20) and tolls on roads. You should be able to buy one at the actual woodlands entry JB side however better to try to borrow one in case....

2. No one should alight - stay inside car.

take MYR in cash to pay for the touch and go card btw. Also topping up in a pain. I normally do it at the petrol station but sometimes their machine is rosak and the bloody toll booths are going cashless and cannot top up (some can - not all).

hi. thanks for the reply.

so to clarify i do not need to do any application online prior to my drive over?

as for my other question, at woodland and JB custom, does the passenger need to alight from the car?

if they need where do i meet them after my car is cleared?

Have your passports, your cashcard and some way of paying for the Malaysian top up card.

Just follow any instructions given. Everyone stays in the car.

Your petrol tank should be 3/4 full - not sure how often that gets checked.

And expect big queues if you cross at a busy time - take snacks.

1: not sure if you need visa - check your status
2: certain rented cars cannot go malaysia(if you are renting), if its a SG car, i think all you need is a touch and go card + cash card + of course, your passports

(assuming you go from woodlands customs) if you do not have touch and go card, after you go past sg customs, when reaching malaysia customs, keep to the extreme right lane, head for the last one, not all counters have touch and go counter, only the last few lanes, you have to keep that in mind
and public holidays = jam, be sure to give yourself a 2 hour allowance jam time

when you get out from malaysia customs, you have to take note of the exit as well , its a bit confusing, make sure to stay away from JB sentral, that one leads you back to JB customs hahaha
Also, if you are planning to do hair/nails, try and make an appointment beforehand (facebook or email) during public holidays, might be packed :???: :???:
