Relocating to Singapore from UK - CPF & NI

Post by rootuf » Mon, 14 Aug 2017 2:06 am

Hi everyone,

I've been browsing these forums ever since my relocation became a possibility a few weeks ago. My employer is now sending through a contract and I'm looking for some advice regarding CPF and NI.

I've lived and worked in the UK all my life and will be coming out to Singapore in mid-October 2017 for at least 24 months (relocation is via my current employer, so they're covering VISA etc.)

I've read that I'd be deemed "ordinary residence" of the UK and would therefore need to pay full NI for the first 52 weeks; in addition, I'm worried that I'll also have to pay CPF contributions.

Has anyone else experienced this? While the package I've been offered confers a reasonable increase in salary, this dual-cost would potentially make the relocation prohibitively expensive if I want to maintain the current quality of life I have in London.

Thanks in advance for any replies and advice.

You will pay no CPF. Only PR's and citizens pay CPF.
