Referrals

Post by raul342 » Fri, 04 Aug 2017 3:14 pm

Hi Everyone,

Its been a year in Singapore and only way I found that I get into an interview is when there is an internal referral form an employee.

Can anyone please refer me if for any entry level role as I am on the verge of completing my Masters in Finance with about an year of experience only.

It would really mean a lot to me.
My email id is- [email protected]

Thank You.

P.S - Plz just dont post ur criticism it reflects you own thinking and behavior :)

Sure.

but are you serious?

You just want somebody to refer not even knowing you?

Honestly, go read the posts on networking and such, for improving your chances and profile

PS, fresh grad has very low chance of passes in Singapore

What! Why should anybody in today's world take a chance of trashing their own credentials on a total unknown. Surely you jest. (and don't call me Shirley). :???:

That's a shame. Here I am, a 25 year PR who's been here 35 years and am the HR & Finance Mgr of a medium sized SME here. I wouldn't give you the time of day, let alone a recommendation with with a reply like that. I was asking you a legitimate question. I don't know of anybody who would gamble their credibility on a total unknown. Some more, with out any real experience. [-X

Oh, Singapore is a very small island, the degree of separation here isn't four degrees but about 2 degrees only.

what could I possibly do to destruct your credibility when I am so need of a job. Anyway thank you for ur responses I cant show you from here that I am trusting person or not. I guess I have to wait for another working person who could trust a bit. And thats a shame that who gets a job are taunting now.

You just don't get it, do you, raul342?

When I make a referral or recommendation, it's not your reputation that is on the line, it is mine.

Why would anyone risk their own reputation by recommending or referring someone they don't know?

And given the totally shitty attitude you have demonstrated in this thread, it is very clear that anyone who was actually stupid enough to refer you would soon find his boss asking him, "Why did you refer that total dumb ass to me? You are a terrible judge of character!"

Get it?

Now, if you were polite, if you listened, if you graciously accepted criticism, whether warranted or not, people would see that, and they might be inclined to learn more about you.

But as things stand, if I were to add a poll to this thread, I predict that 100 percent of the responses would say that they would not consider referring you, given your attitude.

You need to firstly, Network, secondly Network, thirdly Network.. in relevant forums and places, either by contributing positively or otherwise

You don't achieve that by barging into any forum and demanding subservience.

Honestly, again, who are you for a stranger to reference you ?

You know how reference works ?

If you screw up, the referee gets marked badly.

So again, who are you, for anybody to risk a reference ?

Oh, by the way, reference will open doors in Singapore but will not secure you a job.

That comes when you prove your worth.

I know, in some countries, reference = job guaranteed. Not in Singapore. So change your mind set there as well.

Now stop throwing tantrum and do some leg work

Oh, you sure may be lucky and find a random referee. As lucky as winning Toto National Day Draw. So don't give up easily as well.

PS, my current employ is a sister firm of a mid size Manpower Agency but I won't risk myself, a fresh grad to boot.

Thanks for the answer but I wasnt looking for a guaranteed job i was least hoping to get an interview to show what I worth.... I just thought people could help in here but I didnt knew the consequence of being referee getting marked that badly and I am not looking forward to screw up with any referee.

Thank you I guess I should re seek networking again. :/

Nobody sets about to intentionally destroy another persons reputation.

I give up, with this last words.

Grow up a bit and learn the reality.. The world doesn't owe you any favor.

PS, as a fresh grad what sets you different from your competition?
