Leaving Singapore & tax clearance

Post by ventolin » Sun, 30 Jul 2017 12:54 pm

I just quit my job and I'm leaving Singapore this Wednesday. Instead of withholding my salary, my employer told me to pay them 15% of my salary although I have stayed here for longer than 183 days. And I did pay then.

So far I haven't heard anything back from my employer regarding tax clearance although I know they have sent the paperwork to IRAS. Is there anything that I need (specific documentation/approval) before I go to the airport for my flight departing Singapore? I'm worried if I will encounter any problems at the immigration. Thanks.

You can leave. You won't be stopped by immigration.

Once the tax clearance is done, employer will pay on your behalf and return the excess.

If your employer failed to settle then on your return you could be held, so keep the Employers release letter for reference.

Thanks for your response. By "return" do you mean the next time I'm returning to Singapore?

Yes.

But from my knowledge few employer risk not settling your tax.

Dont worry much there too.
