PR Application for Spouse Help!

Post by Lostsoul » Wed, 12 Jul 2017 1:40 pm

Hi all,

I am back for more advice from you guys for a potential PR Application for my spouse.

I ROMed 16 months ago with my wife. She holds a PRC passport but had been residing in Hong Kong for some time. Dad's PRC, Mom's from Hong Kong.

I am a SC, born and bred in SG.

She was previously on work-permit in Singapore and that was when we met.

The Minstry of Manpower had given approval for us to get hitched before the ROM.

ICA had also granted the PMLA approval before the ROM.

I am a local degree holder with Hons from NUS and am currently doing my MBA part time at NTU.

My annual pay is 120k per year (Basic is around 7-ish) at a privatized former govt-linked entity - my title is Assistant Director. My spouse is doing professional courses in English and also mostly just being a housewife.

I am 30 this year. She is 26, she had been doing some freelance dance and ballet instructing in Hong Kong previously but I have listed her as unemployed in her applications here - getting her certified in English proficiency is currently priority for her future employment. Her family is supporting her related education fees. Her Mom's a nursing director and Dad's a retiree ( Does this help as PR Applications do require her parents' details too).

We had just received a renewal for her LTVP - we were disappointed that its only for another year instead of longer or a LTVP+.

I have purchased a resale 5 room HDB - she's listed as the essential occupier.

Would it be in any way meaningful for me to apply PR for her? Or its a straight rejection and I should not bother?

We do not have any kids yet, we may/may not have intention for kids - she loves kids, I am ambivalent towards them.

I'd say give it a shot. It's a little early, but with your ethnic background and a pretty good position/salary, I think it would be worth a shot. If rejected, just wait the two years and then give it another shot.

Thanks! Will give it a shot - realized I did not state my ethnicity but yes I am a Chinese Singaporean. Haha..

I had a 76% chance of guessing correctly even without the PRC spouse I almost couldn't miss!

Hi guys,

Just to update and add to the stats here.

My appointment for PR for my spouse was in early Aug.

We received a reply via post on the 23rd of Feb and my spouse had received her PR IPA.

Good news for us!
