There is really no point in coming back when the PM function is being denied to registered members. Being a "ghost" seems more dignified now.

What's made you change your tune now, kongster? Have you got fed up with your other identities or what? Do you want me to tell them what they are? :D :D Don't worry, I won't. Your secret identities are safe with me. So don't stop PMing me.

well i believe there should be a healthy culture of freedom of expression here, but with it comes the responsibility to respect others as well.

Nevertheless those who indulge in name callings should also exercise maturity and not get offended when their gestures are reciprocated in much the same way.

wholesome

Post by trikal » Wed, 20 Jun 2007 11:23 pm

Moderation must be wholesome, where people who make "cheapskate" comments are marked for they intrude into informative threads and write an innocuous but highly provocative / caustic remark sending chills across the forum. Moderators should focus on easing the thread rather than just editing each one's comment.

For the benefit of the newbies posting here, let's look at it another way. The only people that complain about the moderators are the newbies who are used to the free-for-all anything goes types of posting on other boards. The longer term regulars here know and appreciate that what sometimes seems like over-moderation is primarily to keep it readable and relevant unlike the Angry Board. It has made this board the #1 Expat board in Singapore according to Google. It has been hard work and it is usually the regulars who PM the moderators when something is amiss on a thread. As all of the Mods are regular business persons, we often miss some things due to work commitments. Those who do not like the regulation here usually move on. The rest tend to appreciate it and stay for a long long time (check the dates in some of the profiles). Your choice.

That said, we are all human at times.
