How long for the new entry visit pass?

Post by thailen » Sun, 25 Jun 2017 2:30 pm

I understand there aren't any fortune tellers on this forum, but if you have experience, either personally or with friends, of leaving the country(my reason for leaving is to show them my retirement visa in Thailand expires 3 days after I return to Singapore) and returning(see below), which of the three possibilities is likely, based on my original visit of 90 days: the same 90 days, extended or shortened?

From ICA:
You may wish to note that the grant of visit pass (90 days) upon arrival is meant for you to stay legally in Singapore, once you leave the visit pass is ceased to be valid (voided).
You will be given a new visit pass upon new entry into Singapore.

Welcome back.

Seen 30 days on return.

What do you mean by extended ?

I guess I meant, since the original 90 day visit pass would be broken, they could reimpose the original remaining days to total 90, extend that original, so that when the original 90 days would have ended, they could just give me a new visit pass of anywhere from 30 - 90 days(as an arbitrary example). Obviously, the extension would refer to a total of more than the original 90 days. But you're right. The 90 days is null and void. So I should have substituted new visit pass and have readers suggest the likely number of days in the new visit pass.

Not a recent experience (3yo or so), but our family members got first 90 and later again 90 after a short trip to Bintan.
I would expect this to depend on your travel/stay history so if you stayed many days preceding your trip, and visited Singapore frequently, you may get less.

that's correct. Unless you are on multiple entry visa, your 90 day privilege expired the day you left, even if it was 5 days after arrival.

So it's a new visa when you returned.

After 90 days, unless the law changed, no extensions were allowed.

In reply to one of the readers, I have never been to Singapore and I will have a plane reservation for January 1,2018 to leave the country(depending, of course, when the new visa expires)
