Hi people of Singapre!
I've been reading lots of threads on this amazing forum lately which were really helpful and informative, and i'd appreciate your help with a few enquiries I didn't couldn't find an answer for them on the forum.
1- How does the MoM actually contact the universities? I'm Egyptian and graduated from an Egyptian university, and ehmm we're kinda not a digital nation! Unless it's a business company/email it will go unnoticed and I think this might be the reason my EP application is still pending, and I started to think .. What if my university doesn't answer! Do they send an email .. An actual mail to the university or what, so I may go to my university and ask for help, but I gotta know which department should I contact.
I got an offer from a multinational in Singapore and I was supposed to move by June, but didn't get the IPA yet.
2- I got a background check from the employer, security check and they contacted all my previous employers, does that help with the EP or they don't submit that?
3- I'm well traveled -as a tourist- and I'm always 'the lucky one' who's chosen for random checks at the airports, not to mention the discrimination at most of the embassies specially the european ones "Egyptian passport, muslim name and looks" .. I understand what is going on in the world right now .. No complaints ..
But .. Should I worry about this in Singapore? Would that affect my EP application or my life there if I move to Singapore 'hopefully'? Specially that i'm not really religious so i'm just getting the worst of both worlds lol
I understand that there is a good percentage of muslims in Singapore, but a middleeastern muslim is another thing when it comes to papers .. From my experience.
Thank you for your patience reading this and I wish you a great day!

1) If I am not mistaken somebody mentioned earlier the SG gov does it with the use of some vetting agencies, meaning they are country specific so they are, in your in Egypt. Not sure what happens if the uni is not willing to cooperate. My guess would be someone has to made a decision whether give you some credit based on general profile or not.
2) I don't think MoM uses such data and I don't think they care what the company did in that respect. If they want to be sure, they will rely on their ow checks.
3) The local gov does probably some background check on whether you may have something to do with the extremism, but being a Muslim is surely not considered negative so don't worry.

Thank you so much! Well if they use an Egyptian or a middle eastern vetting agency they would definitely know how to handle this. Wish me good luck!
Have a great day.

Have a great day.
Singapore has partner agencies who do the vetting. And they don't need to be told how to handle things
your employer's checks don't matter to MOM. And you can't feed MOM informationm
Fret not much.

Hello everyone!
Today the status of the application changed from "pending input from vetting agencies, outcome is expected within two months" to just "pending". Does that mean anything?

It means they have the data and now they are debating the merits of said data.

Unfortunately my application was rejected!
I just don't know why, all the information and documents I presented were true and I already had a background check that included university degree, professional background and legal/security background by my employer by independant vetting agency before they applied for me and it went fine!
My employer is a very big multinational, my basic salary is 5K and i'm an Arabic Digital Content Specialist from Egypt with 6 years of experience, 29 years old, never had any legal problems or any problems related to countries' entry. MOM says there was something wrong with my background check but didn't state what it was exactly.
I'm really frustrated, is it because of what is happening in the world and middle easterns and north africans are preferrably avoided? Because that's the situation in many countries.

Always a distinct possibility. But sadly, we don't really know what goes on in the inner working of either ICA or MOM and both tend to keep their cards close to their chest. You have to admit though, most of those countries give other countries a good reason to be wary.

Not true re: Singapore.
One of my clients in Singapore is from North Africa, and they have strong "home" presence here.

Hi All,
As it has been announced that S pass quotas are being lowered from 20 to 15% in the manufacturing sector, I am wondering whether companies...
