Extension of Short Term Visit Pass
Extension of Short Term Visit Pass
Hello everyone,
My girlfriend from Taiwan is planning to visit for roughly 5 weeks, which is longer than the 30 days visa issued to Taiwanese.
When filling the DE card, would stating 5 weeks as duration of stay prevent her from entering Singapore?
I tried looking for extension of short term visa before she comes over, but it seems that the visa extension process requires her to be in Singapore first.
Please advice and thank you.

The maximum days of stay that she will get when she enters SG is 30 days. You can try to e-XTend her SVP after she visits Singapore. But there is no guarantee that the extension will be approved.otakotak wrote:Hello everyone,

I understand that and am planning to do as such. I was just concern on the duration of stay section of the DE card for clearing customs. Would stating say, 50 days, prevent her entry?

Don't know. But when the rule says only 30 days, why are you going to put the number of days of stay as 50? It is clearly violating what they have stated in the visa guideline?otakotak wrote:Thank you for your quick response, singaporeflyer wrote:The maximum days of stay that she will get when she enters SG is 30 days. Well, I feel that it is good to be upfront with ICA on what we intend to do.singaporeflyer wrote:Don't know. Re: Extension of Short Term Visit Pass
It may have changed but my parents had no issues extending on-line. Also a daughter spent several months here, came and went with no issues. Each time she got the maximum extension. That even included a day trip to Johor. None of this was done for the extension, she was just traveling and using Sg as a base. Didn't even have an onward ticket.
I would put 30 days on the form and extend later to cover the duration.

Re: Extension of Short Term Visit Pass
I think the best would be just to ask the immigration officer at the passport control gates. Personally I would expect to have the 30 days specified a safer option. 50 days would be like asking for more than allowed not even having what is allowed yet granted.otakotak wrote:Well, I feel that it is good to be upfront with ICA on what we intend to do.singaporeflyer wrote:Don't know. Only for those holding specific passports, ICA will consider anything longer than 30 days, i.e. US / UK Passports - 89 days.
None, especially Asians, get more than 30 day, on arrival, as I understand that's the maximum the officer can stamp. They can stamp less though.
If anybody has different experience, I would love to know
Re: Extension of Short Term Visit Pass
I may be wrong.
On the e-xtend application, for relationship field the available option does not have "girl friend or fiancee". "Spouse" is available.
I dont remember if I saw "other" as an option.
