How best to move with 5-6 boxes in Singapore

Post by Chris@SG » Fri, 12 May 2017 10:15 am

I'm planning to move into a new apartment on Saturday. I already packed everything. Since I don't move any furniture, I only have 5-6 normal boxes and a desk fan. What would be the best way to move the things without paying too much.

Can I order a normal cab (maybe a combi), or can they decline me with my boxes. I've checked Maxi Cab, but they seem to have weird terms & conditions: 2-3h minimum rent, might not include excessive luggage. I also saw ads of movers on, e.g., Gumtree, for S$50. Is this legit or are there any caveats to it.

Any recommendations or other ideas? Thanks a lot!

Look under the classifieds section on this board. There are lots of folks offering small lorry moving services.

Years ago, when I was still in Singapore, I had one fellow move a washer and dryer for $75, another move a gas BBQ pit for $50.

i've used gumtree movers a few times before.

find the cheapest.

make sure you figure out their "story" before they get to the guard house (if it's a condo) or you'll have to foot a moving deposit.

you'll have to pay more if they have to climb stairs.
